Champions of Kamigawa (or Champions COK) is the name of Magic: The Gathering expansion set released on October 1, 2004. The first set of Kamigawa block, it has paved the way for the history of the block, which was inspired by Japanese myths and revolves around the battle between the spirits (kami) and living beings.
The expansion symbol set is a torii, the entrance to the shrine. This is particularly important, as Kamigawa original idea was summed up as "Shinto wrong": Kami at war against their human admirers.
Mechanical
Champions of Kamigawa introduces several new gameplay mechanics:
Arcane Spells - Some spells instant or sorcery subtype Arcane, which represent spells or abilities used by the kami. He does nothing by itself, but other cards can interact with him (see below).
Impregnation Arcane - spell with this keyword may be "attached" to another arcane spells of the additional investment of mana. The "stuck" fate remains in the hands of the player able to be reused again.
Spirits - Because of the nature of Kamigawa block that contains a large proportion of the creatures of the Spirit subtype. These spirits represent the kami themselves, and many cards in the block to interact with them in a special way to create synergy.
Soulshift - a keyword that appears on Spirit creatures and allows them to return another creature Spirit of the cemetery owner's hand when they die.
"Spiritcraft - Many spirits have abilities that trigger when another spirit or mystery is played.
Bushido, or "path" warrior, increases the power of a creature and tenacity by the number Bushido when he fights another creature. (This is often compared to the accompanying weakening (-1/-1) inhibitors of the creature.)
Legendary - Although not an engineer himself, Kamigawa block contains an unusually high number of cards Legendary, one Champions With over 80 cards Legendary.
Flip Cards - Some creatures, called "heroes" are "returned" (the card is rotated 180 degrees) when the conditions are met, to become a different, more powerful, and the legendary creature.
Champions of Kamigawa introduced amendments to two common types of creature. The Legend creature type has been replaced by the super legendary. The creature type Wall was released from the associated rules that prevented from attacking the walls Wall Each creature has been changed to the new keyword Defender that prevents them from attacking, which allows a simple use of " Wall-type depending on the type of creature different creature. For example, allowing for the Lorwyn changelings, who have all creature types. Under the old rules, changelings would not be able to attack, then even the walls to be. Legend and Wall were the last Magic creature types have inherent rules associated.
