For lights placed in an awkward place, you basically have to install extra lights to leave lights off problem, or try to pick the table to reduce the problem. This can be expensive and look unusual. If your ceiling is low, a likely solution is to buy low-cost high light stand with a head that is flexible, allowing you to reflect the lights on the ceiling, which improves the ambient light.
