This is the basic setting of Chaotic: Shadow Warriors, the last animated series and card game to be transformed into a game. Unlike the recently released console version of the game that was somewhat predictable and repetitive, the DS version has a bit more complex because it sticks closer to its roots collectible card

The plot revolves around a game behind Chaotic digital world known as Perim, where the holographic game characters are combined with four distinct factions constantly fighting among themselves for control with the help of human players. Four of those players, Tom, Kaz, Sarah and Peyton are loaded by the masters of the game world using a new digital scanner to track their favorite characters and items.

However, as the four friends quickly discover, a major theft of artifacts known as the battle began to tip the balance of power in the game world, and four were hired to discover who stole the items before it is too late by selecting a faction to represent in their investigation.
