Agricola Board Game

Posted on April 11, 2010.
Agricola Board GameIs it the board game Agricola too short?

My family and I often games, and always looking for new ones. We picked Agricola around Easter, and can not really understand the strategy yet. We mainly play version of the family (we have a 6 year old son playing with us) and still feel pressured to compete with a strategy in 14 laps. We then end up with negative points for not having a certain product or farmspace used. Could there be any rules that we forget what we give more time to develop a strategy and not have any negative points?

The family version does not use the occupation and minor improvement cards. Since these cards are the primary means of saving actions during the game, playing without them can fill your farm by the end of the 14th round difficult. I can understand why you do not use with a 6yo in the game, though.

Are you people expand to 3 or even 4 family members at the beginning? at least one player must be ready to jump on the action of growth family when it comes out (having already built a room). If you do not go to that player, try to be the player who has enough wood and reeds for the construction of two rooms at once - allowing you to grow your family quickly and with less competition for Space family growth. Without maps, extra family members are the way to get more shares.

Do not be afraid to let accumulate resources - timber after making six saves a recovery action rather than taking the space before the reconstruction. The "Take 1 Grain", "plow an agent" and "Take a vegetable" Space is always at their maximum level of efficiency, so they could be a good alternative to the end of a round if you are the departure of the player for the next round. This will allow you to take a resource freshly reconstituted at the beginning of the next round.

If you go to eat with bread, do not forget the "cook" the action that you get when you buy the clay or stone oven.

If you go to feed the sheep only, you can get by with a home instead of home cooking, because they convert food to sheep at the same speed.

The game is about the most points, not necessarily to avoid negative points. Try to balance the negative points by maxing in other areas if it will save actions. A 5 room stone house is worth 10 points, all five family members are worth 15, etc.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of these posts are intended for non-family version of the game.

You can also check the "Errors" thread to see if anything is missing. Again, many errors that are listed do not apply to family game.
